Aileen McGillivary

Aileen’s route into High Performance sport was via a successful athletic career. As an athlete she competed in Major Championships as both a Scottish and British international; as a European U23 British International she won the 100m Gold. During her career as an athlete she took advantage of expert advice from highly respected people in their particular field who contributed to her programme and this allowed her education of High Performance to commence at an early stage. Since ending her career as an athlete she continued in the performance environment by working within a highly successful coaching team which has produced 3 Olympians, European Finalists, World Indoor Champs finalist and Commonwealth medal winner. She also was one of the first female coaches in Scottish Football when she worked p/t as speed and agility coach with Glasgow Rangers Football Club.

She started her professional career in Performance sport when joining the Scottish Institute of Sport in August 2000 and since then has acquired experience as High Performance Manager (Athletics), Performance & Talent Development Manager with UK Athletics working in the World Class Performance team, Head of Performance with Scottish Gymnastics and returned to the sportscotland Institute of Sport in August 2011 as High Performance Manager. She has also experienced a significant number of high level sporting events as an athlete, coach, Team Manager and Team Leader.

Born in Glasgow, Aileen is highly motivated to make a contribution to Scotland’s sporting legacy.
