ESIS - Dyce earns first senior world ranking

Edinburgh's Graeme Dyce, winner of the Australian Open boys doubles title in January, earned his first senior world ranking point yesterday after winning round one of the Scottish Open Men's $15,000 Futures at Craiglockhart, Edinburgh.

Graeme DyceSupported by the East of Scotland Institute of Sport, 17 year old Dyce has spent the majority of his time since Australia recovering from shin injury.  Yesterday's match was only his first since February.  Unsurprisingly, he admitted feeling 'rusty' after beating England's Ben Dunbar 6-4 6-3.

“You can play practice sets but it's different going on court with an umpire,” he said afterwards.  “In the second set I settled down. It's just about getting used to the match atmosphere again."

In today's second round Dyce faces Andrew Coelho, the fifth seed from Australia.
