Andrew Sommerville

Andy graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in Physiology and Sports Science in 2005. This included a year working at the Institute of Sports Science at James Cook University, North Queensland, Australia.

Following this, he completed his MSc by research, working with academy footballers at Celtic F.C. This research considered seasonal variation in fitness levels of youth footballers across the season.

After completing his studies, Andy secured an internship at the English Institute of Sport and was accepted onto the UK Sport Fast Track Practitioner Programme. Based in Loughborough, the nature of the work was varied but primarily focused on Paralympic sports and their preparation for the Paralympic Games in Beijing next year.

He then joined the Scottish Institute of Sport in October 2007 as an Exercise Physiologist. In his spare time Andrew enjoys playing most sports, in particular football and golf.
