Julie graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports and Exercise Science. For the past two years she has been on secondment at the Olympic Medical Institute (OMI) in Harrow. Here she conducted research for her PhD investigating the effects of vibration exercise on human performance, and is currently working on the write up for her PhD thesis.
Whilst at the OMI, Julie also worked with the sports physiologists as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing applied physiology support to elite athletes from a wide variety of sports both in a testing and rehabilitation environment.
Julie joined the sportscotland institute of sport in February 2008 as an Exercise Physiologist. She enjoys playing any type of sport whenever she can but especially loves the challenge of adventure racing.
