David Hay

Dave Hay 150 x 150.JPGDavid Hay joined the Institute in March 2008 as the Olympic Men's Curling Coach, for the Vancouver 2010 Games.

He has had a long association with the sport at International level, having competed in nine World Championships, eight European Championships and also the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games.

He won Gold at 1991 World's in Winnipeg, Canada and European's in 1983 and 1988.

In 2007 he coached Team Murdoch to the European Gold and also the Scottish Championship in 2008 and a World Championship Silver Medal. This was followed by another Scottish Championship in 2009 and the 2009 World Championship Gold Medal in Moncton Canada where they defeated host nation Canada three times back to back to win the Gold Medal.

Along with his coaching responsibilities he also runs a large farming operation based in Perthshire,  where he was brought up on the family farm with brother Mike (formally an SIS employee, now with the BOA).   Along with their other two brothers, David and Mike have been involved with sports all their life.

A sports enthusiast, David played Rugby at school and college, before turning to curling as his main sporting interest. He plays squash (low level) and also enjoys golf, at Rosemount Golf Club Blairgowrie, when time allows.
