ESIS - Turner selected for Scottish team

Eighteen year old Jane Turner, who was selected for the Scottish team at the Ladies Welsh Amateur Stroke Play Championships in Wales earlier this month, has earned her second ladies cap after being named in a four-strong squad to represent Scotland in the Irish Women's Championship, to be held at Elm Park, Dublin, at the end of June.

Jane, a member of the 2007 Girls Home Internationals team, is making the most of a gap year after finishing school last summer.

“I had a good season with a lot of good finishes and I won quite a few tournaments last year,” said the Craigielaw player.  “That was obviously noticed and I've stepped up a level since I came back from New Zealand where I was training earlier in the year.”

Jane is still deciding whether or not to start university later this year or continue focussing on her golf.  Much will depend on how she fares this summer.  Helping to keep her in shape on the course is the East of Scotland Institute of Sport.

“This is my second year with the East Institute,” she said.   “What the East Institute has done, with physio, massage and Strength & Conditioning has definitely moved me forwards.

“Strength & Conditioning is not something everyone does but it's definitely catching on, even in women's golf. “
