Matt Lock joined the Institute as Communications and Marketing Manager in November 2005. His current projects revolve around defining the messages of the Scottish Institute of Sport to its key audiences.
Most recently Matt spent 18 months in London working as a business advisor to small and medium sized enterprises with particular focus on marketing.
Originally from New Zealand, Matt gained eight years experience in sport business management in both the public and private sports sector. Matt owned and managed a small marketing and communications company 'smartfunctions' that specialised in sports events and websites.
He has earned a BA in English Literature from Victoria University a Teaching Diploma from Wellington College of Education and a Business Studies Diploma from Massey University.
With an extensive knowledge in marketing and communications Matt holds particular expertise in e-marketing and strategic planning for sports organisations.
A former reputable triathlon competitor, Matt was a New Zealand Age Group Triathlon team member, successfully capturing two bronze and a silver medals at age group level. He has also raced in three World Championships - Lausanne, Switzerland 1998; Perth, Australia, 2000 and Queenstown, New Zealand 2003.
Currently a recreational fitness fanatic, Matt enjoys cycling, skiing, hiking and surfing.
