Dr Brian Walker M.B.Ch.B., M.D., F.F.S.E.M. Dip.Sp.Med. joined the Institute as Medical Director in August 2003 and became Head of Sports Medicine in February 2007.
A former General Practitioner in Kilsyth, Brian has worked in full time Sports Medicine practice with appointments at the University of Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt University and private practice in Cumbernauld.
The current team doctor to the Scotland Rugby Under 19 squad, Brian was the first individual in Scotland to write an M.D. thesis on Sports Medicine. His role at the Institute involves the medical profiling of athletes, monitoring health by blood and saliva analysis, clinical duties and contributing sports medicine to the Institute's programmes.
A keen sports fan Brian enjoys supporting Glasgow Rugby, Dundee United and Scotland (Rugby and Football) and keeps fit with dog walking and cycling.
