Gallagher hits form
Home comforts emerged in an unlikely form yesterday at the Barclays Scottish Open (10 - 13 July) in Loch Lomond when Scottish Institute of Sport supported golfer John Gallagher, a 26-year-old amateur who plays cack-handed, posted a three-under-par 69. He finished on the same score as fellow Scots David Drysdale and former Open champion Paul Lawrie.

McConnell makes Olympic squad
The first wave of athletes to be included in Team GB for Beijing were announced on Monday (14 July) but the door will be left open for those who still need to prove themselves to the selectors.

Athlete Tip of the weekHerbal highs...
The growth of Chinese herbal shops in UK has been exponential - most shopping malls now have them. High performance athletes need to be very careful as some Chinese herbal products can contain banned substances which can lead to a doping offence. Be very cautious!!
