Everybody needs time out, so this week, we've persuaded Andrew Sommerville to sit back, relax and tell us a bit about himself...

For the record, please state your full name (embarrassing middle names included):

Andrew Donald Sommerville

What is your job title and what do you do at/with the Institute?

Exercise Physiologist with curling, mens hockey, wrestling and swimming at the moment.

Have you ever participated in sport at an elite level? - If yes, then what, when, for how long and how far did you get?

No

If you could do another person's job at the Institute for a week, what would it be and why?

Wouldn’t mind being a coach so I could blame sports science if it all goes wrong!!

If you could be anything else in the world, other than an Exercise Physiologist, what would it be and why?

Pro sportsman would be good –play sport, travel the world, earn loads of money, good banter, thousands of twitter followers. Sounds like a decent life eh?

If you could invite three people (living or dead) to a dinner party at your gaff… who would they be and why?

Family (I’m counting that as one), Friends (also counting that as one) and the Beatles (again cheating a bit by counting that as one but need some tunes for the entertainment!)

Where is the most scenic and far flung paradise-esque place you have visited with your work at the Institute? With work in general?

Not been anywhere too far yet but have been lucky enough to get to some nice places in the past. So heres hoping…….

Have you ever had any bizarre/funny incidents with any of the athletes you work with? If so… whom and what?

Having worked in professional football in the past I have seen some weird and wonderful (and mostly funny) things – but very few are suitable for public discussion!

Which sports stars do you admire (if any) and why?

I like seeing sports people that are at the top of their game and do things that push boundaries. However, probably admire those not at the top who demonstrate dedication, hard work, professionalism and fair play just as much.

Describe yourself in three words.

Quick fire round:

Chocolate or Cheese? Cheese (& red wine!)
Edinburgh or Glasgow?  glasgow
Raucous night out or Cosy night in? Night out with the boys followed by night in with the Mrs!
Blondes or Brunettes? Blondes
Favourite word? Cheers!
Are you a Dog person or a Cat person? Dog
Who rocks more, the Stones or Led Zeppelin? Stones
Peanuts or Cashew nuts?  Peanuts
Batman or Spiderman? Batman
