Everybody needs time out, so this week, we've persuaded Head of Sports Science and Innovation Malcolm Fairweather to sit back, relax and tell us a bit about himself...
For the record, please state your full name (embarrassing middle names included):
What is your job title and what do you do at/with the Institute?
I manage the science staff and network provision in science. Practically, I deliver skill acquisition support. I also develop and deliver innovation projects with Institute and partner colleagues.
Have you ever participated in sport at an elite level? - If yes, then what, when, for how long and how far did you get?
(Yes) I ran 100m, 200m and 400m
(for how long?) from primary school until my mid-thirties.
(How far did I get) I was North of England 200m champion in 1986 and I ran against Scotland several times for the North of England in international matches!
If you could do another person's job at the Institute for a week, what would it be and why?
I would be a coach. Why? Because I spent 26 years coaching as a hobby and I would like to get paid for at least one week!
If you could be anything else other than marketing genius, what would it be and why?
I would be an artist. I like the idea of creating something from nothing.
If you could invite three people (living or dead) to a dinner party at your gaff… who would they be and why?
- Mick Jagger (for the music)
- Billy Connelly (for the comedy)
- Michael Parkinson (to keep the chat going)

Auckland/New Zealand (Institute) work, and in general, the 17 mile drive at Pebble Beach, California

No, all my work is extremely serious all the time!!
