Tayside and Fife Institute of Sport supported athlete Eilidh Child has progressed to tonight's 400m hurdles semi-finals in the World Championships in Berlin.
Child finished third in her opening heat on Monday night after running an impressive time of 55.96 seconds
"I'm pleased with that,” she said afterwards. “I knew it was going to be hard. I thought 'It's going to be tough' when I saw the line-up. I'm not disappointed with the time, tomorrow will be about times."
Child is edging closer and closer to Dudgeon’s long-standing 55.24 seconds mark, running just eight tenths slower to win silver at the European under-23 Championships in Lithuania.
In total she has lowered her previous personal best five times in a breakthrough season that has also seen her earn a first senior call-up at the European Team Championships in Leiria.
“This is only my second senior vest so it just feels great to be here,” said Child, one of three Scots in Great Britain’s Berlin squad.
