Kevin joined sportscotland in 2011, prior to this he has spent his sporting career working in canoeing as a coach and most recently a performance director.
Kevin started his coaching career in Canoe slalom in 1992 while still actively racing and training at domestic level within the sport. His coaching quickly took over and he balanced his time between working with his local club, the Scottish National squad and the British team. In 1998 Kevin was given the opportunity to be only the third full time coach working with the Olympic squad at the National Slalom facility in Nottingham. He continued this role until 2006 working with a diverse athlete group from junior to Olympic Medallists and enjoying success at numerous world championship and two Olympic Games. In 2006 a new and unique opportunity came up to move back to Scotland with his young family and set up and manage a performance plan for Scottish Canoeing across the two Olympic disciplines of sprint and slalom. This resulted in new regional pathways being developed and a coaching team being recruited and developed.
When not spending time with his wife and two daughters Kevin still likes to get out and enjoy sport. The outdoor environment is key to his sporting interests, with time spent canoeing, cycling, skiing and anything else that involves a technical and physical challenge.
