Wendy Cochrane

Wendy joined the institute in February 2009 as PA to the Director of High Performance & SIS, providing a full range of PA duties and support to the High Performance Team.

Prior to joining the institute, Wendy worked in the Financial Services industry for both Scottish Amicable and Prudential for 25 years.  With an administration background , she has had numerous roles within HR, Marketing, Actuarial, IT, Product Management, Risk Management and latterly Industrial Relations.

Wendy is a bit jinxed when it comes to sport and believe it or not was quite sporty at school, taking part in the swimming and cross-country teams without much miss-hap, the hockey team (where she was relegated to the 2nd team after breaking an opponents nose in an away match – by accident of course!) and the canoe club, where she sank her canoe and lost her paddle.  She also likes skiing, with fond memories of skiing in Austria on Valentine’s day 1999 – yes her son Lewis, born 9 months later was a great reminder – so she now sticks to horse riding when she can as she find this relaxing (with only 2 major falls and one broken arm it seems ideal).

Away from work, Wendy is secretary to the Parent Council at her local primary school and enjoys painting, DIY and bargain shopping.  Wendy could easily win a gold medal if “talking” were an Olympic sport and her favourite things are overalls and wellies.

Wendy recently came across a saying that sums her up perfectly and which has now become her personal mantra – “be eccentric now – don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
