Laura Carey
Performance Psychologist
Laura graduated with a First Class Honours degree and MSc from Leeds Metropolitan in Sport and Exercise Science specialising in Sport Psychology. Whilst studying for the MSc Laura was a part time lecturer and dissertation supervisor on the applied Sport Psychology modules.
Prior to joining the sportscotland institute in 2010, Laura worked at the Carnegie Centre of Sport Performance and Well Being at Leeds Metropolitan University firstly as an intern, then a consultant. During this time Laura worked with both junior and senior international athletes, in team and individual sports. Laura has also worked as a consultant for Blackburn Rovers Girls Centre of Excellence (March 2007- Jan 2010) and completed a successful internship at the IMG Academies (2008). In addition, Laura has worked as a performance analysis consultant at IMG Academies and at Blackburn Rovers Girls Centre of Excellence.
Laura’s hobbies included a variety of sports from mountain marathon running, climbing, skiing, triathlon, tennis and hockey. If Laura is deprived from playing sport she will be found bouncing off the walls in the office with all her spare energy.
