Champions are the result of talent meeting opportunity and support
Preparing Scotlands best athletes to perform on the world stage involves the collective activity of Scotland's High Performance Sports Network, which includes sportscotland, the Area Institutes of Sport, Sport Governing Bodies, Commonwealth Games Scotland, British Olympic Association, British Paralympic Association and UK Sport.
Athlete Pathway
The sportscotland institute of sport is privileged to work with Scotland's best athletes.
Those athletes begin their pathway through sport at grass roots level, where their talent is recognised and realised at age group representative and academy level with their sport governing body.
The six area Institutes of Sport provide performance expertise to Scotland's potential world class talent. They support Scottish Governing Body identified athletes as they progress along their sporting pathway.
The network of Area Institutes has been critical to establishing the culture required to create champions. They nurture and develop Scottish talent through programmes and services appropriate to the athlete's age and stage within the performance pathway.
The significant investment by sportscotland in first establishing the Area Institutes together with 60 partners across Scotland, and committing to that investment through to 2009, signals that we are serious about the future of performance sport.
DUTY OF CARE
The AIS Network has a duty of care to implement effective policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children, young and vulnerable adults.
AREA INSTITUTES
