Champions are the result of talent meeting opportunity and support
Preparing Scotlands best athletes to perform on the world stage involves the collective activity of the sportscotland institute of sport network.
This includes sportscotland institute of sport network, Sport Governing Bodies, Commonwealth Games Scotland, British Olympic Association, British Paralympic Association and UK Sport.
Athlete Pathway
The sportscotland institute of sport is privileged to work with Scotland's best athletes.
Those athletes begin their pathway through sport at grass roots level, where their talent is recognised and realised at age group representative and academy level with their sport governing body (SGB).
Through discussions between the SGB and a High Performance Manager (HPM) at the sportscotland institute of sport, a plan is created which details which support services that sport requires and which athletes we will work with.
The level of support is agreed at a national level and then delivered locally by our experts through the sportscotland institute of sport network at one of our six regional offices.
They are located in:
- Edinburgh - East
- Glasgow - West
- Stirling - Central
- Inverness - Highlands and Islands
- Dundee - Tayside and Fife
- Aberdeen -Grampian
If an athlete becomes very successful, they will often move onto compete and train with British programmes and work with experts in organisations such as UKsport.
Duty of Care
The institute network has a duty of care to implement effective policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children, young and vulnerable adults.
