Keith Joss
Women's High Performance/National Team Hockey Coach
Keith Joss joined the Institute full-time in December 2006, having previously acted as Interim Coach to the Women's Hockey Programme from July 2006.
Educated at Harris Academy, Dundee and Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh, Keith is a qualified PE Teacher, Level 3 Hockey Coach and is currently waiting to sit the final part of his International Hockey Federation Coaching Award. Prior to joining the Institute Keith worked for East Dunbartonshire Council as Active Schools Manager.
From 1995 until 2003 Keith was Hockey Development Officer with Glasgow City Council where he established a number of pathway initiatives that are now recognised as best practice: Junior Club Development Programmes; City of Glasgow Training Squads; and the hockey programme at the Glasgow School of Sport, Bellahouston Academy. At the same time Keith became involved in hockey coaching at international level, working with the Under 16 and Under 18 Men until 1999, before concentrating on Women's Programmes.
As coach to the Junior Women's Programme Keith led Scotland to unprecedented success: winning the European B Division in Prague (2000); becoming the first Scottish team to play in a European Semi-Final in Alcala la Real, Spain in 2002; repeating this success in Dublin (2004); and finishing 12th from 16 teams at the Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile in 2005. Keith also acted as Assistant Coach to the Senior Women in 2001 and 2002, attending the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in France and the World Cup in Perth, Australia.
Keith is married to Rhona and their son Fraser is an enthusiastic supporter of the team
