Ryan King began working for the Institute as Strength and Conditioning coach in December 2006. He holds a number of sporting qualifications including a BSc (hons) in sports coaching and development which he completed in 2001, before working as a sports lecturer. After completing his Sport Scotland S&C Workshop and BWLA courses he completed the NSCA CSCS. Ryan worked as the S&C Coach for the University of St Andrews where he designed a S&C facility and set up a support service to help performance squads and talented athletes including TFIS/SIS level.
He was later accepted as an intern onto the SIS/TFIS S&C programme and travelled to the Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs USA, for the USAW Sports Performance Coaching Course, before being appointed as S&C coach for the Scottish and Grampian Institutes of Sport.
Ryan's vast array of interests include weight training, running, watching rugby and football, going to the cinema and travelling as often as possible.
