Hot on the heels of her selection to the Scottish team competing in this month's inaugural Celtic Tri Nations Championships in Dublin, Dalgetty Bay 14 year old, Eloise Barber scooped the junior sports personality trophy at the Dunfermline and West Fife Council Awards this week.

From a short list of seven from athletics, football, hockey, sailing and swimming, all nominated by the Dunfermline Press, the teenager won the Asda St Leonard's Trophy Award - for young people under 16 years of age who have shown qualities of endeavour in sport and whose standard of performance has improved in 2006.

“Swimmers do about the most training compared to other sports so it's good to get this recognition.”

Good news has arrived in threes for Eloise.  Today she found out she has been picked for the Scottish Schools WISE (Wales Ireland Scotland England) team competing in Dublin later this month.

Eloise is supported by the Tayside & Fife Institute of Sport, which gives her access to quality training facilities, individually tailored coaching programmes, delivered by experienced coaches and a fully integrated strength and conditioning programme.  Complementing and supporting technical and tactical expertise, the Scottish Area Institute network provides access to sports science, sports medicine and performance lifestyle services.

Under the joint guidance of Carnegie coach, Gilbert Kirkwood and Tayside & Fife Institute of Sport swim coach, Gary Vandermeulen, Eloise is with the same team that helped Dunfermline swimmer, Andrew Rodgie transform from club to international competitor.
